Let's bring back some great banners to Pleasant Ridge!!

Have you noticed the banners hanging on the poles of our neighborhood's main corridor at Ridge and Montgomery?  They are in desperate need of repair.  The good news is that we can update them, and ensure that our neighborhood has attractive street banners for the next several years.  Many neighborhoods in the City and around Greater Cincinnati proudly display their neighborhood banners along their primary roadways.  Pleasant Ridge needs to get back in the game in regard to these street banners.  They contribute significantly to the look and feel of our neighborhood.  They can also be a source of neighborhood pride.

Click here for an example of a banner that can be hung along Ridge and Montgomery.  Envision several of these types of full-length banners--easily visible--hanging for the poles in the streets.  They would certainly send a message: we take pride in our neighborhood!

In order to make this plan a reality, a committee of residents has endorsed a plan to help pay for the banners, their hardware, and their installation.  We are asking both residents and business owners to contribute to the "Pleasant Ridge Street Banner Fund."  Each and every person who has heard the banner plan likes the idea.  In order to make it happen, we've got to take some ownership of it.  So please consider making this donation to help improve your neighborhood in this meaningful way.  If residents contribute even $10-$20 to help improve our neighborhood with these banners, we will make significant gains toward this permanent beautification goal.

Donations can be made the "Pleasant Ridge Banner Fund," care of Pleasant Ridge Community Council, PO Box 128705, Cincinnati, OH 45212. Please note that your contribution may be tax-deductible!!  We will keep you updated on the progress as we move along.  If you would like to help with this project, please contact Matt Kemper at mattandrachel200@yahoo.com.  Thanks for making Pleasant Ridge a great community!!

One last note: we are exploring the possibility of bringing back house flags with the "Pleasant Ridge" logo on them.  Ten or so years ago these flags could be seen flying proudly on many houses in our neighborhood.  Ideally, we would like to make some available for sale at Ridge Day.

Pleasant Ridge Residents:  By now you have received your new recycling bin.  Community Council would like to assist you in figuring out how this new program works.  First, follow this link:
http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/noncms/projects/recycling/

Here, you can find out when you are supposed to place your recycling out along with your trash.  Notice pick up is EVERY OTHER WEEK.  Following this link allows you to insert your address and print out a schedule as a reminder.  Second, please follow the RecycleBank link to register your address to start earning reward points.

GOOD NEIGHBOR ALERT:  The new recycle bins were dropped off to each address, some houses or apartment buildings may be currently vacant.  Community Council asks that you PLEASE be a good neighbor and if you notice a bin still sitting on the side of the road in front of an empty address, take the time to pull the bin to the side of that building.  Leaving these bins in the open may promote unwanted activity by letting criminals know that address is vacant.

Community Council strives to keep residents informed on a number of topics that we feel are important to you and your neighbors.  If you have questions or if you feel you have come across some information that would be beneficial to our community, contact us at communication@pleasantridge.org

The Community Responds to the Ohio EPA’s Inadequate Proposed Plan to Cleanup Hilton Davis

Earlier this year, on February 25, more than a hundred residents of Pleasant Ridge and surrounding communities packed the Blue Room at the Recreation Center.  The purpose of the meeting was for representatives of the Ohio EPA to receive feedback from residents regarding the agency’s proposed plan to cleanup the Hilton Davis Chemical Plan site at 2235 Langdon Farm Road.  The agency got an earful.  Through their questions and public comments made on the record, residents gave the proposed plan a big thumbs-down.
