A Message from Beau McGrath
President, Pleasant Ridge Community Council
Executive Board Opportunities
Serving on the Executive Board of the Pleasant Ridge Community Council is a great way to give back to our community. There are few other ways where you can have a direct impact on our neighborhood’s stability and growth than serving as an executive member of Community Council. The two-year commitment is what you make of it and offers rewards that extend well into the future.
Having served on the Executive Board for four years, currently as President, I’ve gained a whole new perspective on what it means to live in Pleasant Ridge. The friendships I’ve made through Community Council alone have made the experience well worth the time investment!
If you’ve ever considering getting involved in Community Council, I’m happy to speak with anyone who would like to learn more.
In the coming months, three positions will be opening up on the Executive Board:
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Secretary
More information about these roles is available on our neighborhood website – www.pleasantridge.org. Per our bi-laws, those who would like to be considered for these roles should indicate their interest at our March 6th council meeting. The nomination process will close at the April 3rd meeting and voting will take place at our May 1st meeting.
Filling these positions is vital in maintaining a strong community. Benefits from community service reward the individual as well; from retirees to young professionals, serving on Council can have a positive impact on your professional record and enhance your experience with your community. Contact PRCC for more information and thanks for continuing to make Pleasant Ridge the best neighborhood our great city has to offer!

New running/walking group in the Ridge
Now there is one more positive way to bring together folks in Pleasant Ridge and surrounding neighborhoods. Pleasant Ridge Runners meet in front of the Pleasant Perk every Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and then head out on a relatively short run (about 3 miles). Afterwards, those who are interested hang out at the Perk and enjoy some delicious coffee or tea. The group welcomes all levels of runners and walkers; women and men; the young, middle-aged and more-than-middle-aged; coffee, tea and even decaf drinkers; etc. Also, anyone who wants to run or walk further on Saturdays or to meet up on additional days of the week can make plans to do so. In short, PR Runners hope to be diverse, flexible, social and fun! For more information, please visit and "like" their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/PRrunners.
