Help get Hilton Davis cleaned up ... once and for all !!!
Your help is needed ... please write a letter to the Ohio EPA
The people of Pleasant Ridge have been trying to get the Hilton Davis
site cleaned up since the mid-1980s (see "A Brief History"
below). Much progress has been made, but there is still work that needs
to be done to keep Pleasant Ridge the great neighborhood that it is and
help it to become even better in the future.
For the past year or so, a group of concerned neighbors has been working
to get the clean-up finished ... and finished right. Some have met with
the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and expressed their
concerns about an inadequate proposal by Eastman Kodak to clean up the
site. Others put signs opposing Kodak's proposal in their yards. About
500 people signed a petition asking the Ohio EPA to reject the proposal.
And articles on Pleasant Ridge residents' opposition to Kodak's proposal
have appeared in The Cincinnati Enquirer and CityBeat.
Now this group is seeking your help in writing letters so that the Ohio
EPA "hears" the concerns of our neighborhood and considers
them in making the final decision. We know that this is a busy time of
year, but writing a letter should only take a few minutes ... yet it
could have a big impact.
We are asking neighbors to send personal letters to Chris Korleski,
Director of the Ohio EPA, with a copy to Governor Ted Strickland.
(Please see the sample letter on the back side of this flyer.) In
addition or instead, you could ask your children to write a letter or
draw a picture to send to the Ohio EPA. Children's messages can be very
effective in such efforts.
