Kennedy Heights Arts Center

Click 2008
Kennedy Heights Arts Center is pleased to announce the opening of Click 2008, an exhibition devoted entirely to the medium of photography.  This is our fourth year of the show featuring a diverse array of black and white, color, and digital photography.  All are invited to a free Opening Evening Reception on Saturday, August 9th from 6-8 p.m. with complimentary refreshments and entertainment.  Thanks to our exhibition season sponsor National City.

A special feature of Click 2008 is the American Society of Media Photographers' One-and-Only Item show.  This imaginative annual exhibition sponsored by ASMP originated 14 years ago and travels to several galleries in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.  Kennedy Heights Arts Center is honored to be one of the selected venues.  Each year, photographers are challenged to create original artwork that incorporates a specific ordinary object.  The item for this year's exhibition is clear packaging tape!  Although every photograph must include packaging tape somehow, the results are varied and imaginative in style and form.  The Best of Show winner each year gets to pick the item for the next year's exhibition.  This year's exhibit includes the work of over 40 practicing professional ASMP member photographers.

Click runs from August 9 - September 13, 2008.  Gallery hours are Saturdays 10 am - 4 pm and by appointment.  For more information, please call 631-4278.

In Our Neighborhood - A community collaborative art project
Everyone is invited to a free Community Gathering for residents of all ages Sunday, September 14 from 3-5 pm at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center, 6546 Montgomery Rd.
Meet local artist Kate Kern, learn about a special community project and how you can get involved, and enjoy refreshments. All are invited to bring a photograph and/or small item that reflects your connection with where you live.
From Sept. 15 - Oct. 11, Kennedy Heights Arts Center is sponsoring an Ohio Arts Council artist residency with visual artist Kate Kern. Working with writing, drawing, fiber arts and digital photography, local youth and adults will make a collaborative installation on the theme of  In Our Neighborhood: Expressing a Sense of Place.   The resulting installation will be exhibited in the Arts Center's galleries for one month.  We hope many residents will participate to share the rich history, places, people and qualities that make Kennedy Heights special.

The Pea Pod Cafe

Here is what's happening this week at The Pea Pod Cafe:

NEW HOURS - The Pea Pod Cafe has extended their hours. They will be open Tuesday through Friday 11am-4pm and Saturday 11am-7pm.

ART - Using a Cincinnati Art Academy education as her foundation, Rebecca Weller has spent the last five years studying and working out of her studio. An exploration of the master's styles and techniques has served well the development of her unique and evolving style. A strikingly narrow range of colors and a painterly hand, combined with a deft combination of thin glazing and opaque layers of paint, characterize the Asian-inspired paintings created by Weller. Her exploration of this foreign culture has led to a profound cultural awareness. Rebecca's work will be exhibited throughout the cafe.
