Kennedy Heights Arts Center

Click 2008
Opening Reception August 9th, 6-8 pm

Kennedy Heights Arts Center is pleased to announce the opening of Click 2008, an exhibition devoted entirely to the medium of photography.  This is our fourth year of the show featuring a diverse array of black and white, color, and digital photography.  All are invited to a free Opening Evening Reception on Saturday, August 9th from 6-8 p.m. with complimentary refreshments and entertainment.  Thanks to our exhibition season sponsor National City.

A special feature of Click 2008 is the American Society of Media Photographers' One-and-Only Item show.  This imaginative annual exhibition sponsored by ASMP originated 14 years ago and travels to several galleries in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.  Kennedy Heights Arts Center is honored to be one of the selected venues.  Each year, photographers are challenged to create original artwork that incorporates a specific ordinary object.  The item for this year's exhibition is clear packaging tape!  Although every photograph must include packaging tape somehow, the results are varied and imaginative in style and form.  The Best of Show winner each year gets to pick the item for the next year's exhibition.  This year's exhibit includes the work of over 40 practicing professional ASMP member photographers.

Click runs from August 9 - September 13, 2008.  Gallery hours are Saturdays 10 am - 4 pm and by appointment.  For more information, please call 631-4278.

CincyAfterSchool Enrichment Program

What you need to know about the '08-'09 CincyAfterSchool Enrichment Program!

What is CincyAfterSchool?
CAS is a program offered to 5 through 12 year olds at Pleasant Ridge Montessori School and local neighborhood communities.  The goals of the program are to provide children with enrichment activities Monday through Friday from 2:15-5:45.  CINCYAFTERSCHOOL IS NOT A DAYCARE, we provide children with unique opportunities to develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills.

How do I register my child for CincyAfterSchool?
We will have a registration booth at the PRM Meet & Greet, Sunday, August 17 between 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. You will receive your registration packet at the door and it will be collected upon completion that evening. Packets turned in after 4:00 that evening will be added to the wait list.

What is the cost of CincyAfterSchool?
This year CAS will be implementing the first phase of its sustainability plan.  Therefore each child will pay a registration fee of $50 a semester.

How will children be chosen to participate in CincyAfterSchool? Students will be selected by random lottery this year.  Students not drawn in the lottery will be added to a wait list.  A letter will be sent home with your child that indicates if you are in the program or on the waiting list. Community members not enrolled at Pleasant Ridge will be notified via phone.

When will the program begin?
If you are chosen through the lottery there will be a mandatory parent meeting Sept. 2nd or 3rd. Full day programming will begin Sept. 15th.

What activities will children be involved in during CincyAfterSchool?
Children will have the opportunity to participate in 2 enrichment activities daily (such as yoga, art, environmental activities, karate, aerobics, sign language, ballet, hip hop, science club, Women Writing for a Change, crafting, chess, games, and field trips).  Every child will then attend an academic/tutoring session from 4:30-5:45.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON THE 17TH AND WILL ANSWER ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS YOU HAVE AT THAT TIME!
