2) Earth Day in the park - April 19, 2008

Celebrate Earth Day in Pleasant Ridge!

 

Join us Saturday, April 19 from noon to 2:30 at the Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center to celebrate our beautiful planet and learn how we can help protect it! 

We'll have fun, educational events and exhibits, run by neighbors and area environmental organizations. Learn about composting and solar cookers, plant seeds and check out rain gardens, and find out how to reduce, reuse and recycle every day! The event is free and held under tents, rain or shine.  Hosted by the Pleasant Ridge Community Council and the Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center.

Street captains are liaisons between their closest neighbors and the PRCC.  They can organize block parties and deliver "Welcome to the Neighborhood Kits" from the PRCC.  For more info, contact Michelle Boyles at mboyles@providenttravel.com

Metallic Club of Retired Men

The Metallic Club is an organization of retired men, meeting on Friday mornings to hear excellent speakers on interesting subjects. The Membership Fee per meeting is $1.00. On April 18th at 10:00 am at The Kennedy Heights Presbyterian Church, Mike Martini and George Zahn of WMKV will discuss "Media Heritage - Keeping Radio History Alive".  For information; contact Joe O'Donnell at odnnj8@aol.com.

EMANU EVENT CANCELLED
(Happy Hour Fundraiser for the Library) 

Due to further delays in construction the emanu restaurant regrets the cancellation of the event scheduled for Friday, April 11th  for the benefit of the PR Library

So the drum beat goes on... we continue to look for ways and means to fund "the campaign for a welcoming and accessible library"

6) Pleasant Ridge Community Council (PRCC)

PRCC meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Pleasant Ridge Recreation Center. The purpose of the meetings is to provide updates about community issues and discuss items that affect the entire neighborhood.

Next monthly meeting will be Tuesday, May 6 at 7pm

The following residents of Pleasant Ridge have been nominated to serve on the Community Council Executive Board:

Beau McGrath (to serve as vice-president)

Robert Ramsay (to continue as treasurer)

 

Other nominations will be accepted at the May 6 community council meeting.  The vote will be held at the Tuesday, June 3 meeting.

Volunteer opportunities

Photographers:
Volunteer photographers needed to take digital photos at our Earth Day Party on Saturday April 19 for our website and newsletter.  Contact Josh Krekeler, PRCC Secretary and Informant Editor, at joshxles@fuse.net.

The safety committee meets on the 3rd Tuesday each month at the Recreation Center. Contact Andy Powell for more info: andrew.powell@ge.com

Kennedy Guild artists in all media open their Spring Show with a party for the public on Saturday, April 12 from 6-8 pm.  It's free!  Enjoy art, refreshments and live harp music by Lin Grieser.  Bring your friends and hang out with art lovers from all around the area.
